About Me

I’m Connie Chung (she/her) and from a young age I have always been mesmerised by people and their personal stories. This means I'm interested in how your relationships and environment have shaped, hurt and affected you, how you have made sense of your experiences and how you can heal from them.

I am fluent in English and Cantonese Chinese, and I speak conversational Mandarin. I am based in Coalville, Leicestershire and I currently offer counselling sessions to people aged 18 and over. I was inspired to work with adults after my experience working in schools supporting students of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disadvantaged) in their academic work. However, I found the relationships I built with them on an emotional level was much more enriching.

This type of work taught me that it was equally important to not only offer emotional support to young people who are on their journey but also adults who are looking to further understand themselves or learn new things about themselves that they might not have explored when they were younger.

Therefore my aim is to offer you a space where you can be fully yourself and see how you transform when you are given this opportunity.

Qualifications

Psychology Degree

I obtained a BSc Psychology from the University of Liverpool. This course was rich in knowledge allowing me to understand the different branches of the subject and learning about how different and various areas of our lives can shape us into how we are. This built a solid foundation for me in terms of learning which components can affect how we behave and feel around different experiences.

Masters Degree

After my undergraduate studies, I began a Masters course to further my emotional and professional development. I am a qualified psychotherapist and have a MA in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy (Distinction) from the University of Nottingham.

Professional Registration

I am registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (Registered Number: NCS21-02813).
